Tuberculosis Program [TB]

NOTE: Effective June 1, 2019, the TB Clinic will no longer offer TB Screening (PPD/IGRA/Risk Assessment), treatment for Latent TB Infection (LTBI) or TB Clearance for work and/or school. Patients should seek care from their regular provider or from a federally qualified health center (FQHC) in the community. Assistance with TB diagnosis and treatment is available by sending an email to TBNurse@schsa.org or calling (209) 558-8880 and speaking to a TB nurse. Responsibilities of Tuberculosis Control Program:

  • Provide education and resources to community providers.
  • Perform contact investigations to interrupt the spread of disease.
  • Case-manage Active TB Disease cases.
  • Oversee the Direct Observed Therapy (DOT) program.
  • Ensure appropriate hospital discharges of patients on TB Disease medication.
  • Receive and review reports of suspected or confirmed Active TB Disease cases.
  • Report confirmed cases to the State.

Health and Safety Code §121362 states that all health facilities shall not discharge, transfer, or release a patient until notification and a written plan has been submitted and approved by the Local Health Officer for all people known or suspected to have active tuberculosis.
