Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP)


The Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program is a statewide program that provides pregnant Medi-Cal beneficiaries with culturally competent services and offers enhanced reimbursement to CPSP providers.

Obstetrical, nutrition, health education and psychosocial assessments, reassessments, interventions, referrals and follow-up are the components of this comprehensive program. A variety of health professionals and health workers qualify to deliver the comprehensive perinatal services.


Target Population: Pregnant women receiving Medi-Cal for prenatal care.

  • Give every baby a healthy start in life
  • Decrease the number low birthweight infants
  • Reduce health care costs by preventing catastrophic and chronic illness in infants and children
  • Recruits and assists providers with the application for certification and with implementation of the program
  • Monitors the adequacy of the Stanislaus County prenatal provider network to meet the needs of the childbearing population
  • Assures the quality of the services and compliance to CPSP guidelines through education and technical assistance at providers’ offices or Roundtable Meetings
  • Publishes newsletters, resource directories, CPSP and Medi-Cal OB provider lists
